What to Know Before You Go
We are so excited to welcome you at the Flyhouse!
In order to make your experience as fun-filled as possible please read over these important guidelines before you visit.
What should I know relating to health precautions?
DO NOT VISIT if you are experiencing any respiratory symptoms.
Guests allowed to observe at owners and coaches discretion based on class size.
Students can bring their own apparatus and we will be providing to those who choose not to.
What are your POLICIES?
PURCHASES: All sales are final and non-refundable and cannot be shared or transferred among students.
LOW ENROLLMENT: Sessions with less than 3 registered participants could be cancelled. Folks that have pre-registered will be notified via Facebook and Instagram announcement. Please “like” and follow us on Facebook and on Instagram to be alerted to announcements.
SCHEDULE CHANGES: Our schedule is subject to change at our discretion. We reserve the right to cancel any session, workshop or event for any reason including but not limited to inclement weather, building issues, instructor illness or low registration. We also reserve the right to substitute or change instructors assigned to sessions.
CLOSURES: We do not close for holidays and will announce on social media if we were to close for extreme weather.
CANCELLATIONS: All sales are final and non-refundable and cannot be shared or transferred among members. Private lesson cancellations require 24 hour notice. Teachers arrange their schedule around your sessions and hold the space for you. Payment is expected if you are unable to provide 24 hours notice. NO exceptions.
WAIVER: Everyone must sign a waiver before participating in a session or to visit the Flyhouse. Minors must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian in order to participate. You can download a copy of the waiver here and bring it with you to the Flyhouse.
DRESS CODE: Adherence to the dress code is essential and failure to follow the guidelines may limit your participation.
PARTICIPANT SAFETY: Participants must listen to the instructor and pay close attention to their instructions. Failure to do so can cause harm.
VIDEO: The Flyhouse records video as required by our insurance.
What is the DRESS CODE?
Our dress code and policies are oh so important. Failure to follow them could seriously limit what you're able to do in class. Please share this information with any guests you are bringing so they can have the best experience possible.
NO zippers, velcro, jewelry, sequins, or metal of any kind. No exceptions. These can destroy our equipment, scratch the teacher helping you, or injure you, the participant. Failure to follow the dress code may severely limit what the participant is permitted to do in a session.
Finger and toenails must be trimmed so as not to damage the apparatus.
Do NOT use lotion, oils, or fragrance on your skin prior to having a session.
Wear comfortable workout clothes that cover the armpits, belly, and backs of knees. No shorts or tank tops.
All jewelry and watches must be removed
Piercings must be removed or covered with tape
Hair that is long enough to swing in front of face must be secured back
Clothing must be form fitting and must cover participants back, abdomen and area behind the knees
Clothing cannot have zippers or buckles
NO glass bottles or containers. Please bring your water in a metal or plastic container.
Can I bring a WATER bottle?
Please bring your water in a metal or plastic container. Remember: NO glass bottles or containers are allowed for everyone’s safety.
Can I take photos and video?
Photos and video are highly encouraged! We love to see you share your experiences on social media. Be sure to tag us on Facebook and Instagram.
Please note that for insurance purposes, the Flyhouse records video of all sessions.
Who can participate?
Our Circus School offers training for folks of all ages and experience levels, from total beginners to professional circus performers. Our instructors foster a body-positive environment in all of our classes and events. All sizes, shapes, skill levels, and ages have a home here at the Flyhouse.
Are the instructors experienced?
All Detroit Flyhouse instructors undergo extensive teacher training and regular continuing education in order to stay at the top of their game and serve folks of all backgrounds. We have an amazing team and we think you'll agree.
What kinds of skills can I learn?
Our curriculum includes traditional circus arts such as aerial silks, trapeze, aerial hoop, partner acrobatics, hula hoop dance, fire performance and much more. Circus memberships teach foundational circus artistry while building life-enhancing skills such as confidence, responsibility, poise, teamwork, and discipline.
